Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, and Haunted Places
by Brad Steiger
Do ghosts exist? This phenomena(l) offering, Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, and Haunted Places expertly reports the evidence. Supernaturally written by renowned “ghost-writer” Brad Steiger — whose resume begins where Stephen King’s and Dean Koontz’s imaginations end? Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, and Haunted Places is more than a collection of true ghost stories. Readers of all ages will find themselves plunked into the middle of the eerie action with captivating stories that would be at home at any midnight campfire. The only difference is these stories aren’t urban legends employing hooks, needles, or long, metal fingernails for their scare. These stories exist outside of the mind and live right next door to every one of us.
Organized into 45 topical chapters, Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, and Haunted Places is a 640-page medium to spirits that are the good (‘Ghosts that Saved Lives’), the bad (‘Invisible Home Wreckers’), and the ugly (‘Demonic Spirits That Whisper Commands to Kill’). Steiger’s able pen also takes the reader on a scary, scenic tour of ‘Phantoms on Roads and Highways’ via ‘Ghost Trains’ and ‘Phantom Automobiles’ to ‘Haunted Mansions’ that Walt Disney only “nightmared” about. From there, Real Ghost unearths the ghastly goings-on and macabre manifestations at haunted places such as museums, churches, graveyards, restaurants, and sacred sites.
Loaded with 125 photos of ethereal existence and extras — such as filmographies and directories to haunted places, ghost hunters, and physical research groups — this paranormal publication is sure to capture a prominent place on enthusiasts? bookshelves. Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, and Haunted Places also possesses the power to turn skeptics and nonbelievers into trippers of the lights phantasmic.
Since 1958, Steiger has been invited to dozens of private homes, office buildings, dormitories, hospitals, and sacred areas to investigate haunting manifestations. He has conducted investigations in 46 states, a number of Canadian provinces, and in such foreign countries as Egypt, Israel, Jordan, and Peru. He has witnessed spirit materializations, heard spectral voices, felt ghostly touches, and once was even lifted into the air by hostile entity. In the early 1970s, the Steiger family moved into a haunted house that for several months tried every frightening method it could devise to drive them out. He continues to be drawn into haunted houses and hotels during his travels with his wife.
About Brad Steiger
Ghostly phenomena were a common occurrence in Brad Steiger’s childhood home. Because these experiences were accepted by a mystically inclined mother and challenged by a skeptically inclined father, Steiger believes that he achieved a balanced attitude toward ghosts and hauntings that has served him well during his nearly 50 years as a psychical researcher.
Steiger has authored or coauthored 150 books on the mysterious and unknown, including the classics Ghosts, Ghouls and Other Peculiar People, The Werewolf Book: The Encyclopedia of Shapeshifting Beings, and Mysteries of Time and Space. He and his wife, Sherry, coauthor the “Miracle” series, and Steiger appears frequently on radio and television and guests twice monthly on the nationally syndicated Jeff Rense Show to answer listeners’ questions about ghosts in their own homes.
